Multiple Ways of Learning

CRANIUM POINT: Multiple ways of learning, not a narrow view.

Value the multiple intelligences all individuals bring to the team. The question is not “How smart are you?” but rather “How are you smart?” Howard Gardner and others have proven our gifts, talents, and abilities far exceed what can be measured by a single standardized test. There are many variations to the theory of multiple intelligences, but here is a short list to open the door to discovering how you and the people around you can be smart:

  • Musical–rhythmic and harmonic
  • Visual-spatial
  • Verbal–linguistic
  • Logical-mathematical
  • Bodily-kinesthetic
  • Interpersonal
  • Intrapersonal
  • Naturalistic
  • Existential

As you can see, there are many ways to be gifted. Ponder this idea today, explore more of the theory, and seek out ways to use your intelligence and those around you more effectively.
